The situation appears to be getting out of hand.  Both the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) and the A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change coalition (APNU+AFC) are protesting the increasing destruction of each other’s campaign material.Over the past few days, over-enthusiastic supporters of both parties have been defacing billboards and desecrating each other’s campaign material, including flags and banners and photographs,Wholesale Jerseys USA, in several parts of the country. With the campaign hitting its peak,Cheap Baseball Jerseys China, the parties have appealed for calm. The People’s Progressive Party Civic, in a statement yesterday, condemned what it described as the wanton and barefaced attempts by elements associated with the APNU-AFC to break up its political meetings.Several of the PPP/C billboards, posters and other campaign materials were pulled down, defaced or otherwise destroyed within the past few days. The PPP is convinced that these are not random actions perpetrated by Party fanatics but represented a premeditated, well calculated and centrally directed plot by the APNU to create political tension and ultimately derail the May 11 polls,Jerseys NFL Wholesale,” the party stated. But the PPP supporters have launched attacks on opposition billboards. It was observed that large APNU+AFC billboards were vandalized at Foulis, Coldingen and La Bonne Intention, on the East Coast of Demerara. While some of these billboards were completely defaced, there is evidence of a clear attempt to burn the one at Coldingen. And the PPP is calling on GECOM to put in place all the necessary mechanisms to guard against multiple voting, unauthorised use of proxy voting, others voting for others,NFL Jerseys Outlet, storming of polling stations,China Jerseys, stuffing of ballot boxes and other fraudulent practices on voting day.The PPP urges its members, supporters and friends to remain calm and composed despite acts of provocation unleashed against them. And the APNU+AFC members are telling their supporters the same thing. At last Saturday’s New Amsterdam rally, Prime Ministerial candidate Moses Nagamootoo called on supporters to refrain from engaging in any untoward act to disturb the peace of the nation or even provoke anyone. On Monday night at a public meeting at Fyrish, Corentyne, APNU+AFC Coalition National Candidate Nigel Hughes, condemned all acts of provocation during the elections campaign.Hughes assured that no act of harassment, intimidation or indecency will be tolerated as the APNU+AFC Coalition holds itself to a higher standard.“… we condemn all acts of indecency and disrespect,” Hughes said.“We must hold ourselves to higher standards than we expect of others. We are better than that,” Hughes added.Last Friday the Coalition had publicly condemned the vile and utterly reprehensible tactic of persons who he said were being paid to pose as a group of supporters to intimidate another group.
