I'm
from Southeastern Indiana and was lucky enough to be introduced to
squirrel hunting at the age of 6 by my dad. My first deer came at
age 9 under the instruction from my dad and I have never looked
back.
Trophy deer are my passion, whether it’s putting them on the wall,
finding their sheds, or capturing them on film. I have been
fortunate enough to take 4 deer that score over 150”, with my
biggest deer scoring 194 4/8” by bow. That deer was featured in
North American Whitetail, Rack, and Indiana Game and Fish as well
as the Indiana Bowhunter Association magazine. I also have had
several of my trailcam pictures featured in the Hoosier Record
Book with one of them gracing the cover.
I am married to Brandi and we have a daughter named Autumn.
Together we are co-owners and operators of Sand Creek Archery, one
of only two IBO commercial 3d archery ranges in Indiana. I also am
on the board of our local chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding
the Hungry, and am a certified scorer for the Hoosier Record Buck
Program.
I decided to start this website to meet other hunters throughout
North America and have yet another way to enjoy my passion.
MARK HUGHES
Born and raised in Indiana, I hunted very little, just small game…
rabbit’s, squirrels. My dad small game hunted, and was a very
serious bass fisherman, fishing many tournaments. After high
school I joined the United State Marine Corps, and in 1987 I
returned to Indiana. I started deer hunting when I was 22 for the
first time. I loved it and was hooked.
I’ve hunted Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Wyoming, Illinois, and
Missouri over the years in pursuit of the whitetail’s. I started
hunting the turkey back in 1997, and I’m hooked on them as well.
Another passion is coyote hunting. Today I hunt nearly every
critter that we have in Indiana… fish a little too. I hunt with
any weapon that’s legal to get as much time in the woods, I
especially enjoy the challenges of archery hunting
My wife Wendy allows me to hunt… most of the time! (She even
hunted spring turkey with me). I have four children 2 girls, 2
boys. They love to shed hunt, hike, and do some hunting as well. I
formed Double Drop Tine Productions, with Robert Muncie in hopes
of capturing our hunts on video. To share with other’s our passion
for hunting. I live for the hunt…….Thanks for being part of

RANDALL MARSHALL
I was born, raised and
still live in southern Indiana. At a very young age I was
fortunate to be introduced to hunting and shooting. I would tag
along with Dad while he squirrel hunted. At the age of six I
received my first .22 rifle from my Grandparents.
In my early years I only hunted small game, there just wasn’t many
deer around our area. It was exciting to see a deer during my
ventures and couldn’t wait to get back home to tell everybody.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a mentor when it came to deer hunting
but I did learn the basics of hunting and safe gun handling while
target shooting and small game hunting with Dad and Grandpa. I
learned about deer hunting by reading nearly every book and
magazine I could get my hands on, not to mention a little trial
and error.
I killed my first deer when I was 17, a button buck with my bow. I
was introduced to turkey hunting by a friend in 1991 when I killed
my first tom. In 2007 I killed my first antelope on public ground
in South Dakota. In 2009 another friend introduced me to waterfowl
hunting and I was able to kill my first goose so now I have
another new hobby. I have been very blessed during my hunting
endeavors’ and have been very successful pursuing these big game
animals. I truly believe this success is a direct result of being
introduced to hunting and shooting as a youngster.
I am also very blessed to be married to Brenda! She is very
understanding when it comes to my time away from home due to my
love of the outdoors. We also have a daughter, Becca. Although
they do not hunt, they do vey much enjoy partaking in the wild
game as it comes off the grill.
JAMES MULLINS
I live near Canaan Indiana, with my wife Renee
and am an avid deer hunter. I have been hunting deer since I was
about 15years old.
My uncle was a gun hunter and I got the fire from him. I loved
listening to hunting stories of the days gone by, and I knew I had
to try it. I killed my first buck a couple of years later. It was
a 5 pointer with my shotgun, and oh what a day. I can remember it
like it was yesterday.
Years later, I still get butterflies in my stomach on the eve of
opening day, and still love to be in the woods every chance I get,
that includes hunting and trapping coyotes and other furbearers
right after deer seasons close for the year. When those seasons
are over I jump to shed hunting, and scouting for the next season.
ROBERT MUNCIE
It's hard to
believe that something as simple as a bone would bring about
sweats, shakes, and a nervous frenzy but that is just what
happens. Antlers have been doing this to men and women for years
and years and will continue to do so. My name is Robert Muncie and
I'm addicted to these bones. I spend a good portion of my year
working toward the goal of harvesting a nice buck with a trophy
set of antlers and when I'm not working toward that goal I'm most
certainly thinking about them. I've been chasing this dream for 27
years. My father first introduced me to whitetails and antlers
when I was very young. I remember wishing and dreaming of when I
could go with him and get my own set of antlers. My first set came
from a buck I harvested in 1982. Not a large set but enough that I
was completely addicted from that point on.
I've been hunting whitetails non stop every since that day. I
chase them with archery equipment and will add a traditional bow
to next years arsenal. I also use a shotgun and a muzzleloader.
I've just finished building my own smoke pole that will see the
deer woods next year as well. Any and all chance to get out and
into the woods is one I will take. I've hunted all of the Midwest
and will continue to take those trips in search of more antlers
and more whitetails.
Along with my passion for hunting I also have an even greater
passion for my family. They provide me with support and keep me
grounded when I get a little crazy during the fall and winter
season. My son is 6 and is counting the days till he hunts
whitetails himself. He is starting to accompany me on a few
shorter hunts and that will continue to do so as I teach him the
finer science of deer hunting and scouting. My wife Andrea is my
rock and has been so very patient with me while I travel and hunt.
Some of the hunts take me away for a week at a time and she holds
the house together while I'm away. My family shares a passion for
archery and while neither of them are hunting at this time, both
have bows and shoot with me. We use archery to spend time together
and enjoy the fun that a bow and arrow can provide. It has allowed
up to grow closer than we could have without it. Hunting and
archery have given so much to my life and I am always striving to
give back to this sport. I'm also very honored to be part of the
staff of Antler Talk and to be on a team of so many accomplished
hunters.
JOE PAUL
Born in Ohio and raised in Indiana, but I have truly grown up in
the woods. My earliest memories are of my Dad and I in the woods
hunting coons. My Dad hunted mostly small game, sometimes
whitetails, but his passion was coon hunting. His passion for all
types of hunting is what got me started in the outdoors. Early in
my life I was strictly a small game hunter, with squirrels being
my main target.
After graduating high school I began to seriously hunt whitetails.
I remember the exact second my passion for hunting became a down
right affliction for whitetails. It was a fairly warm Thanksgiving
morning and a 7-point buck was making his way down a trail I was
set up on. Three minutes later as he lay on his side in the creek,
I immediately knew whitetail hunting was something I was going to
do the rest of my life. Since that moment I have not looked back.
I have now graduated to the ranks of bowhunting whitetails. This
aspect of hunting has only fueled my affliction for the
all-elusive whitetail buck. I love being so close to animals and
them not know I am there. That in its self is worth the lack of
sleep during the hunting season. As a family member once told me,
“You are seeing God’s creatures act the way they naturally do.”
Another affliction of mine is turkey hunting. Very few things are
better than a cool spring morning and hearing a gobbler sound off
from his roost. I also enjoy fishing, with catfish being my
favorite to catch.
I am not married but I do have a wonderful girlfriend named
Autumn. She is more than I can ask for. She understands that
during deer season I won’t be seen much unless I am in a tree
stand. By knowing this she too has started hunting. She was
actually right beside me when I killed my first gobbler.
BRAD REINHOLT
I also have
been raised in southern Indiana. I started squirrel hunting with
my dad when I was 6 years old. When I was 10 years old I was able
to go deer hunting with my dad for the first time. It was not
until I was 15 years old that I killed my first deer with a
shotgun, which was a doe. Since then I have been hunting with a
bow, shotgun, and muzzleloader. Although deer are my favorite
animal to hunt, I also like to hunt turkey, elk, bear, and other
small game.
I am married to my wife Kelsey. Together we have three children.
Their names are Ethan 8, Seth 4, and Kaydence 9 months. Together
we all like to shoot our bows in our back yard and go to 3D shoots
in the summer. Ethan was able to shoot a few squirrels this fall
with his 410 shotgun. So he now thinks he is ready for the spring
turkey season.
I am lucky that my full time job as a forester for a veneer
company which allows me to be in the woods almost as much as I can
stand. Aside from being a forester, my wife and I own and run a
taxidermy studio. I certainly don’t mind the extra time that our
taxidermy business adds to my workload from my fulltime job,
because I get to hear all the great stories, tales and I get to
see quite a few big bucks.
I’m looking forward to helping out with and making AntlerTalk the
best hunting website that can be enjoyed by all hunters.
STEVE SCUDDER
Being
born and raised in Southeast Indiana, I have been very lucky to
have been able to hunt my fair share of critters. My Dad used to
raise beagles and when I was just a little guy I would tag along
with him and my older brother on their rabbit hunts. It wasn't
until the age of 10 until I would get to actually hunt with them,
carrying my own gun. It was at the age of 10 that I also got to go
on my first actual squirrel hunt and deer hunt too. Deer hunting
after that just seemed to grow as a true love for me. I learned
real fast the ups and downs of hunting deer, as it wasn't until I
was 13 that I finally took my first one. I also got to coon hunt
with an older neighbor fellow that was gracious enough to take me
along, which I really enjoyed just as much as hunting the rabbit
and squirrel, but there was just something about those deer that
hooked onto me and never let go.
In 1999 I was married to my wife Sarah and since have had 3 little
boys. Tristan 9, Hunter 3, and Tanner 2. Tristan has already seen
his fair share of the woods also. He was introduced early at the
age of 3 when my wife and I couldn't find a sitter so we could go
turkey hunting, so we would just take him with us. Since then he
has taken to hunting, killing his first deer when he was 6 and
since killing 3 more, including his first buck this past season.
At the age of 7 he took his first turkey, a 25 lb gobbler with a
10 1/2" beard.
In my years of hunting I've been lucky enough to have harvested
several nice deer. Out of all of them, 3 of them over 150". My
largest being a 166" muzzleloader harvest in 2005. I've also been
lucky with my bow and harvested two bucks that went 151" in 2003
and the other at 159" in 2006.
I am a mechanical engineer by trade and I own and run my own
taxidermy business which keeps me busy as well. I got into
taxidermy back in 1999 due to my love for deer, and I get to save
myself some money too. I get see several nice deer a year, plus
get to hear the stories and tales of the hunts.
CHARLIE ST. JOHN
I have
lived in Southern Indiana all my life. Even when I wasn’t old
enough to carry a gun I would follow my dad on small game hunts
here in Indiana or help flush pheasants in Iowa. I have hunted
since age 6 when I killed my first squirrel. I started deer
hunting in 1985 killing my first deer at age 11, a 5 point buck,
with a 45 caliber flintlock muzzleloader at the then Jefferson
Proving Ground. I enjoy turkey hunting as much as anything, with
my largest bird weighing in at over 27 pounds with an 11 ¾” beard.
My oldest son Cody started hunting with me in 2008. What a proud
moment it was watching him harvest his first deer, followed by
another a few days later. Hunting has always been exciting for me
but never as exciting as watching my son harvest his first deer. I
also have been fortunate enough to travel to South Dakota shooting
Prairie Dogs and twice pursuing Antelope.
I am a heavy equipment operator by trade working for my parents at
our family business that my grandfather started over 45 years ago.
I am married to Tracy and we have two sons. Cody is 9 and Wyatt is
7. We co-own Sand Creek Archery LLC, a 3D archery range. We also
own 3D Archery Products LLC. I am a coordinator for the
Muscatatuck chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. My
family and I spend most Sunday afternoons during the summer
shooting 3D tournaments. I look forward to serving on the Pro

I
began shooting a red fiberglass bow when I was five years old.
When I was seven, I received my first real compound, a PSE
Bandit. Surprisingly, this bow came full circle and landed back
into my hands at the age of eighteen. It provided many kids
their first opportunity to shoot a bow. I am an avid bow hunter
and fisherman. I have been bow hunting whitetail deer since I
was thirteen years old. Not all my deer have been taken with a
bow. However, I am proud of each and every one. I began turkey
hunting when I was fourteen years old. I’ve killed two turkeys
with a gun. The goal for next year is to have a bow kill.
Fishing, I was born with a pole in my hand. I fly fish, bow
fish, bass fish, crappie fish, catfish, you name it. I fish it.
I currently work part time in my dad’s archery shop. I repair
bows, build arrows, set up bows, provide assistance and
knowledge to local bow hunters. I have shot many IBO and local
tournaments. At the National level in 2006 I was part of the
Prime Time Archery Male Bowhunter Release team. My team placed
second overall in teams that summer. In 2007, I finished third
overall in the Male Bowhunter Release class at the IBO Southern
Triple Crown. Later that summer, I finished ninth overall at the
National Triple Crown in MBR. Though I’m only 24 years old, I’ve
experienced many opportunities in the archery world, through bow
hunting and tournament archery. Also a Hoyt
